  Who is Kid Kosher?

He’s the Hip Hop Hebrew, a Jewish rapper with a flair for telling the history of his people. Kid Kosher hails from Brick, NJ. Kid Kosher has been interested in hip hop since the days of breakdancing during the 1980s. In the Monmouth/Ocean County areas of NJ, Kid Kosher is best known for his cover of Rapper’s Delight by the Sugarhill Gang. Kid Kosher has performed covers of established artists as well as original material in the United States, Jamaica, and Aruba to energetic audiences. Kid Kosher has performed in talent shows, male beauty pageants, and charity events.

Kid Kosher took the Ocean County area by storm during the latter half of 2003. An appearance at a talent show hosted by NJ 101.5's Big Joe Henry earned Kid Kosher a place in the station's Holiday Extravaganza in December 2003, which in turn led to 2 live appearances on NJ 101.5's Carton and Rossi Show. In addition to the radio appearances, Kid Kosher has also performed for Temple Rodeph Torah's Hebrew School and been featured in a full page article published in the Brick Township Bulletin newspaper.

Kid Kosher began the Hip Hop Hanukkah project in fall 2002 during an on going collaboration with jazz musician Chris Colaneri of CCQ. The concept was to bring to the Jewish Holidays the same musical hype that the Christian/Catholic holidays have. Put to a hip hop beat along with Chris’ jazzy licks, Kid Kosher can drop a lesson about the Jewish people thus educating his listeners about Jewish holidays. Kid Kosher takes history and makes it fun and exciting so that Jews and gentiles alike can enjoy the experience.

Now with his first non-Hanukkah release complete, fans can enjoy Jewish hip hop year round on CD or internet radio!
